Preferably, email Monica a filled in digital entry form, which you have completed.
Report on 2024 February Exhibition at Guildford Pavilion
A huge thank you to all the fifty-three artists who contributed work for our February Winter Warmer Exhibition at the Guildford Pavilion and to the volunteer stewards.
The light, spacious venue and the thoughtful, skilled curation meant that the paintings were displayed to their best advantage. The public and members enjoyed the show.
The standard of work was truly excellent and showcased the extraordinary reservoir of talent in our society. The wide range of style and media meant that there was something to please every taste.
Our Favourite Artwork vote was topped by pieces by Fiona Champion, with work by Colin Woods and Tracey Allen following closely behind. However, every single artist got at least one vote: proof, if needed, that everyone's work was fully appreciated.
A lot of our visitors expressed interest in future exhibitions and provided email addresses so that we can send out details of future events. We will be looking to extend this list over coming months and widen our marketing base.
During the period of the exhibition, nine people applied to join the Guildford Art Society and are now email exhibiting members. We hope they enjoy their membership.
Finally, it was an absolute pleasure to see the friendliness and camaraderie amongst members of the society. What a privilege it was to see and meet you all and be able to exhibit your beautiful work.
Monica Curley and the GAS Committee.

Summer Exhibition 2023 Report
Our second year exhibiting at Shalford proved to be a consistently good choice of venue. Visitor numbers were slightly down on last year but still in the upper hundreds. 40 pieces of artwork sold for £6500 with some after sales likely – not too bad considering the uncertainty in the economy. Feedback regarding the standard of the exhibition was rewarding, with many visitors congratulating the Society on the talent and high standard of the exhibition. One visitor wrote to me with these heart-warming words:
“Thank you for telling me about your art exhibition.
The hour I spent looking at all the amazing work felt very therapeutic for me. I left feeling calmer, with my heart lifted, and in awe of you and your fellow artists’ talents. I hope many people visited!”
What a lovely thing to say!
Thanks as ever go to the fantastic team of helpers, too numerous to mention individually - without whom the exhibition would not work. However - a special mention to the stewarding, which was exceptional. So many stewards were happy to chat to visitors in a relaxed and friendly way but also took time to socialize and get to know each other. You all helped to make a great exhibition with an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.
So thank you all the exhibition supporters and helpers for my very enjoyable 6 years as Exhibitions Coordinator – a pleasure and a privilege to work with you.
I now step down and wish all the very best to whoever takes over.
Kind Regards
Ingrid Skoglund, 2023 Exhibitions Coordinator.

CRAFT FAIR at WEST HORSLEY PLACE – 25, 26, 27 NOV 2022
Craft Works
Craftwork is welcome, entirely created by the maker and not too large. They will be displayed on a central table running the length of the room. Five items of craftwork may be entered.
Those artists entering crafts need to bring them to West Horsley Place. It would be useful to have these entry forms for craftwork in advance, so we know roughly what to expect. So please send your entry form to Ingrid in advance by email at gasartexhibitions@yahoo.com. However, please also bring with you to WHP a list of craftworks you are submitting, headed clearly with your name, phone number and email address. A copy of your entry form would do.
Craft exhibitors will need to deliver their work in person directly to WHP at 9.30 am prompt on Thursday 25th November. Please do not bring them to the collection point for folios.
Collection for unsold items will be on Monday 28 November from 10:00 to 12:00 hours at WHP.
Folios
This Craft Fair at West Horsley Place will now be folios only, apart from craftwork, with NO framed or hanging works except by invitation and there will be no cards at this craft fair.
Up to 5 folios per member artist may be submitted. Please use the entry form to record the details of your folios. Label each folio with the artist’s name, the title of the work and the price.
Folios should be delivered to our designated delivery point, the address below this paragraph, on Wednesday 23 November, between 10 am - 3 pm, together with your filled-in entry form. Download the template entry form by clicking on this link. Knock on the door on arrival, identify yourself and hand over your entry form and folios.
Dr David G Jobson, 8 Kestrel Close, Merrow Park, Guildford, GU4 7DR.
Displays of artwork will be in browsers, easels and on desktop easels on tables in the centre of the room. Please volunteer your browser stands if you have some and bring them with your folios to David. Make sure your name is on them so they can be returned.
Commission will be at 15% and there is no entry fee.
Remember to bring wrapped artwork only, cellophane-wrapped, and professional, high-quality presentation. Do not use clingfilm under any circumstances.
Collection for unsold items will be on Monday 28 November from 10:00 to 12:00 hours at West Horsley Place.
Pre-selected best-selling artists will be invited to hang works on the limited spaces on the walls around the room. They will be contacted separately.

Exhibition at Shalford, August 2022
2022 AUGUST EXHIBITION at SHALFORD by Ingrid Skoglund
A well-received exhibition with locals who were very supportive and seemed proud to have our show in their village. Visitors exceed an average of 100 per day. The AA roadsigns and the flags were a major draw. Ease of parking, accessibility and generous opening hours helped with footfall.
Sales exceeded £8000 for 49 items including 29 browsers and 13 hanging works. Craftwork sold well - 7 items plus numerous pretty earrings by Hannah Bruce. The reserve painting concept worked. Buyers took their purchases without creating a gap.
We have booked the event again for the same time in 2023 so get creating.
Ingrid and Annmarie thank all the members too numerous to mention who worked so hard and so creatively to make this exhibition such a success.
